Job description

Full-time | Term Time Only

Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of children and young people? We are looking for caring, resilient and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to join our dedicated team, supporting pupils to achieve their full potential in a nurturing and highly individualised learning environment.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and therapists to support pupils with a range of additional needs, both in the classroom and throughout the school day. Every day is different, and you'll play a key role in helping our pupils develop academically, socially and emotionally.

You will support children and young people aged 10-17 who have a range of special educational needs, including:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

Many of these pupils have experienced challenges in previous educational settings and benefit from a calm, structured and relationship-based approach to learning.

Classes are intentionally small, typically consisting of 4-8 pupils, allowing for personalised learning and strong relationships. Teaching Assistants work alongside experienced teachers, with high levels of adult support to ensure every child can engage successfully.

Your day may include:

  • Welcoming pupils and supporting a positive start to the school day.
  • Assisting with engaging, differentiated lessons across a range of curriculum subjects.
  • Providing one-to-one and small group support.
  • Encouraging communication, independence and confidence.
  • Supporting pupils to regulate their emotions using agreed strategies.
  • Supervising break and lunchtime activities while promoting positive social interaction.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and pastoral staff.
  • Recording observations and contributing to pupil progress.
  • Helping to create a safe, calm and inclusive learning environment.

No two days are ever the same, but every day provides an opportunity to make a meaningful difference.

  • Compassionate, patient and resilient.
  • Positive, flexible and able to adapt to changing situations.
  • Passionate about supporting children with additional needs.
  • A confident team player with excellent communication skills.
  • Calm under pressure and able to build trusting relationships.
  • Willing to undertake ongoing professional development.

Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable but not essential. We welcome applications from candidates with backgrounds in education, care, youth work, residential support, health, psychology or other people-focused roles.

  • Comprehensive induction and ongoing training.
  • Opportunities for career progression within specialist education.
  • A supportive and collaborative staff team.
  • The opportunity to make a genuine difference every day.
  • A rewarding and varied role within a child-centred environment.

Due to our rural location, there is limited public transport, therefore access to your own transport is essential to reliably travel to and from work.

If you are committed to helping children and young people thrive, we'd love to hear from you.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All appointments are subject to an enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references and safer recruitment procedures.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later d
