Job description

We are seeking a dedicated and kind-hearted Teaching Assistant to join Portfield School.

Our Teaching Assistants are vital in ensuring each student reaches their full potential. They develop positive working relationships with students, understanding their likes, dislikes, and interests to personalise lessons.

Working at Portfield School is incredibly rewarding; no two days are the same. While the role can be physically and emotionally demanding at times, ongoing support is always available from team members, line managers, leadership, mental health first aiders, and our Employee Assistance Programme.

To be successful as a Teaching Assistant, you should:
  • Adapt easily to different situations

  • Enjoy playing and getting messy
  • Maintain a calm approach under pressure
  • Support with personal care, including nappies and toilet training
  • Participate in all required activities and exercises
  • Use your initiative when needed
