Job summary

Academics is partnering with a friendly primary school in Chertsey to recruit a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant. You will provide compassionate 1:1 support and help pupils access learning across the classroom and beyond.

This full-time, term-time role starts September 2026. The ideal candidate has experience with SEN, patience, resilience, and strong communication, with a commitment to inclusive education and collaborative school life.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children with SEN in a primary setting.
  • Knowledge of Autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs is preferred.
  • Clear communication and a patient, caring approach.

Academics is delighted to be working in partnership with a friendly, nurturing, and high-achieving primary school that is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and wants to be part of a collaborative school community.

Location: Chertsey

Start Date: September 2026

Contract: Full-time, Monday to Friday (Term Time Only)

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality 1:1 support for pupils with Special Educational Needs, helping them access learning both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Deliver targeted small-group interventions focused on literacy, numeracy, communication, and social development.
  • Support children with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, SEMH needs, and moderate learning difficulties.
  • Foster positive relationships with pupils, helping them develop socially, emotionally, and academically.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
  • Have previous experience supporting children with SEN within a primary school, specialist provision, nursery, or similar educational setting.
  • Have knowledge of supporting pupils with Autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, or other additional learning needs.
  • Demonstrate patience, empathy, resilience, and excellent communication skills.
