Job summary

The Edwin Group in Stockport is seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant to support children and young adults with Autism and complex needs. This is a full-time, temporary role: term-time only with potential to become permanent after a qualifying period.

The successful candidate will join a dedicated team in modern facilities, with ongoing training and development opportunities and competitive PAYE pay (£463 - £525 per week). Start date: September 2026.

Qualifications

  • Have previous experience supporting children or young people or vulnerable adults.
  • Have a genuine passion for supporting pupils with SEN, including Autism, learning disabilities, sensory impairments or complex needs.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills with pupils, staff and families.
  • Show emotional resilience and adaptability, remaining patient and positive in a fast-paced, sometimes challenging environment.
  • Be reliable, proactive and committed to making a positive impact in a specialist education setting.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with SEN, including Autism, to access learning in class and therapy sessions.
  • Build trusting relationships with pupils, staff and families.
  • Contribute to a calm, inclusive classroom environment.

The School and Role

This is a term-time only role with strong potential to become permanent following a successful qualifying period, alongside access to ongoing training and professional development. This role is ideal for candidates seeking meaningful SEN experience and long-term opportunities within special education
