Job summary

Protocol Education is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Braintree on a full-time basis. You will support pupils with Special Educational Needs, helping them access learning and develop confidence in a nurturing and inclusive environment.

Working closely with class teachers and the SENCO, you will provide tailored support both in and out of the classroom, promoting pupil engagement, progress, and wellbeing through collaborative teamwork.

Qualifications

  • Patient, adaptable and enthusiastic individual with a genuine passion for supporting children.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships.
  • Previous school-based experience is beneficial but not essential.
  • Experience with additional needs is advantageous.

Working closely with class teachers and the SENCO, you will provide tailored support both in and out of the classroom, playing a key role in promoting pupil engagement, progress, and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support pupils with a range of additional needs on a one-to-one and small-group basis, helping them remain engaged in learning and achieve individual targets.
  • Foster positive relationships, encourage independence, and contribute to a supportive and inclusive classroom environment while working collaboratively with teaching staff and other professionals.
About You
  • We are looking for a patient, adaptable, and enthusiastic individual with a genuine passion for supporting children.
  • Strong communication skills, a proactive approach, and the ability to build positive relationships are essential.
Desirable Experience
  • Previous school-based experience is beneficial but not essential.
  • We welcome applications from candidates who have gained transferable skills through work in nurseries, early years settings, youth clubs, sports coaching, holiday clubs, childcare settings, mentoring programmes, or volunteering with children and young people.
  • Experience supporting individuals with additional needs would be highly advantageous.
