POST: Teaching Assistant – Fixed term linked to funding

Hours: 32.5 hours per week, Term Time Only

LOCATION: Oasis Academy Blakenhale infants or juniors Birmingham, B15 2HU

START DATE: September 2025

We are looking for an excellent Teaching Assistant with a passion for SEND to work at our vibrant academy. This is an opportunity to work in an academy with amazing facilities where the children behave impeccably. In our most recent OFSTED we continue to be ‘Good’ in all areas in both the infants and the juniors.

This is an exciting opportunity for an inspiring, innovative and dynamic candidate to be part of a thriving team. You will be working with a variety of pupils, including those with special educational needs. This role will mainly include working a 1-1 basis as well as leading small groups.

The successful candidate will:

• Have previous experience of supporting children with special educational needs or an interest in supporting children with additional needs.

• Be totally committed to raising standards and overcoming barriers to learning for all children

• Be driven to ensure each child they work with makes accelerated progress

• Be able to develop the social, emotional skills and interactions of identified pupils

• Successfully work with children, developing positive relationships and providing appropriate support.

• Have a commitment to working as part of our hardworking team.

The role will include:-

Providing teaching support under the guidance of the class teacher and SENDCo, in small groups and, for individual pupils and/or children with SEND plans or additional needs in order to aid the teaching of all curriculum subjects.

Assisting in planning and undertaking the delivery of group or individual pupil learning programmes, either in withdrawal groups or within the classroom, to ensure delivery of the individual's targets, group targets and to support the meeting of whole school targets.

Assisting the teacher with observation and monitoring of the progress of children, maintaining accurate records in order to ensure documentation of all children, especially those children with interventions.

Assisting with the implementation of Individual Education/Behaviour Plans and Intimate Care Programmes where necessary.

Establishing good relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and being aware of and responding appropriately to individual needs.

Monitoring pupil’s responses to learning activities and accurately record achievement/progress as directed.

Supporting positive play at lunch and break times.

Undertaking professional development and training activities as appropriate.
