Job description

Hays Education is supporting a local school in recruiting a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to work with them during the summer term. This role is to start after half term and will run until the end of the academic year. The details are as follows:

  • The school is located in south-east Birmingham, not far from the city centre, and describes itself as a focused and dedicated school with young people at the centre of its ethos.
  • It caters to children at KS4 level with social, emotional, and mental health challenges (SEMH).
  • The role involves supporting children in class who have SEMH and some additional SEN.
  • The position is Monday to Friday, from morning till afternoon, on a term-time-only basis.
  • The school will support training for candidates who may not have prior experience working in such settings.
  • The successful candidate will have experience working with children exhibiting challenging behaviour and SEMH.
  • You should be able to demonstrate key competencies in working with children with SEMH and de-escalation techniques.
  • Hays Education can obtain recent satisfactory references reflecting this experience.
