Job description

Job Title:
Teaching Assistant
Location:
Kings Norton, Birmingham
Salary:
£23,400 to £24,765 depending on experience
Hours:
37.5 per week

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and committed Teaching Assistant to join a specialist provision supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including ASD, ADHD, conduct disorders, attachment difficulties, global developmental delay, and moderate learning difficulties (MLDs).


The role:

Based in either the School or College, the setting is an independent SEN School catering to 11-17 year olds with mainly Autism-related needs. The school provides a safe, low sensory environment and an ambitious curriculum, including GCSEs and enrichment activities, to ensure students achieve their best outcomes and are fully prepared for further education, employment, training, and adulthood.


Duties of the role:
  1. Mentoring, supporting, and inspiring learners through curriculum-based learning in the classroom, on home tuition, outreach, and outdoor activities.
  2. Assisting with the preparation of learning materials and contributing to the delivery of learning objectives, with a strong focus on behavioural management.
  3. Providing daily reports on learners’ progress and barriers to learning.
  4. Engaging regularly with parents and caregivers.

Experience/Qualifications:
  • A passionate commitment to supporting students with SEND.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience working in a SEND environment or similar setting.
  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is advantageous.
