Job summary

GSL Education in Wakefield is seeking an experienced SEN Teacher to inspire and support students with additional needs. The role requires strong teaching practice, patience, and a deep understanding of individual learning needs.

You will plan and deliver differentiated lessons, maintain routines, monitor progress, and work with support staff to ensure inclusive teaching. DBS checks are required; an Update Service registration is preferred.

Qualifications

  • QTS is essential.
  • Experience teaching pupils with special educational needs or additional learning needs.
  • Strong understanding of differentiation and inclusive teaching.
  • Excellent behaviour management and ability to stay calm under pressure.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with support staff, parents and other professionals.
  • Enhanced DBS certificate (Update Service) or willingness to complete a new DBS check.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver lessons reflecting individual learning needs and abilities.
  • Differentiate and provide support strategies to access the curriculum.
  • Establish predictable routines to create a secure learning environment.
  • Monitor academic, behavioural and personal development.
  • Collaborate with teaching assistants and other professionals to provide consistent support.
  • Build positive pupil relationships and foster independence.
  • Maintain records and contribute to progress reviews.
