Job summary

Prospect House Primary Specialist School is seeking an experienced SEN teacher to join during a fixed‑term maternity cover from October 2026 until August 2027. The role focuses on delivering a highly personalised curriculum for pupils with severe, profound and complex needs, aligned to EHCP outcomes.

You will work within a specialist provision, collaborating with therapists, families and external agencies to continuously improve practice and provide an inspiring learning environment for children.

Qualifications

  • Substantial experience working with pupils with severe, profound and/or complex learning difficulties.
  • Understanding of communication needs, sensory regulation and personalised curriculum design.
  • Passion for embedding an "I can do" culture.
  • Desire to influence practice beyond one’s own classroom.
  • Thrives in a collaborative, reflective and values‑driven environment.
  • Consistently strong classroom practice, reflective, resilient and solutions‑focused.
  • Builds positive relationships with pupils, families and multi‑agency professionals.
  • Contributes to whole‑school improvement and collaborative working.
  • Belief that every child can achieve.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver a highly personalised curriculum tailored to individual EHCP outcomes.
  • Plan, teach and assess learning in line with pupils’ complex needs.
  • Create a safe, inclusive and inspiring classroom environment.
  • Support and model effective specialist practice.
  • Work closely with therapists, families and external agencies.
  • Contribute to self‑evaluation and continuous school improvement.
