Job summary

Outcomes First Group’s Underley Garden School in Kirkby Lonsdale is seeking an experienced SEN Teacher to create an engaging classroom for pupils with autism and learning needs. You will plan and deliver creative, individualised lessons and work with teaching assistants, therapists, families and the wider school team to support academic progress and social development.

This permanent, term-time role offers 40 hours weekly, Monday to Friday, 8am-4pm, with a salary of £41,000 per annum plus travel

Qualifications

QTS/QTLS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
Passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential.
Ability to build strong relationships with pupils, families and colleagues within a multi-disciplinary team.
Resilience, adaptability and calm confidence with behaviour management and de‑escalation skills.
Experience in SEN, SEMH or specialist education is desirable, but not essential—your teaching ability and commitment are what matter most.
Driving licence required.

Responsibilities

Deliver creative, engaging and differentiated lessons tailored to pupils with SEN and SEMH.
Create a positive, nurturing classroom environment that promotes confidence, independence and outstanding behaviour.
Assess, monitor and track progress, using information to shape planning and interventions.
Work collaboratively with colleagues, therapists and families to achieve the best outcomes for every pupil.
Support social, emotional and personal development while promoting positive behaviour and wellbeing.
Contribute to the wider life of the school, including pastoral support, EHCP reviews, parent communication and ongoing improvement.
