Job summary

Underley Garden School, part of Outcomes First Group, is seeking a SEN Teacher to deliver engaging, differentiated lessons within an inclusive classroom. You will work alongside teaching assistants, therapists, families and the wider school team to support pupils’ academic progress and social development.

You’ll plan creative lessons, track progress and contribute to form-tutor responsibilities, ensuring personalised support for each pupil within a supportive, multi-disciplinary environment.

Qualifications

• QTS/QTLS or equivalent teaching qualification required.
• Passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning.
• Ability to build strong relationships within a multi-disciplinary team.
• Driving licence required.

Responsibilities

• Create engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to pupils with SEN/SEMH.
• Develop a positive, nurturing classroom environment promoting confidence and independence.
• Assess, monitor and track progress to inform planning and interventions.
• Collaborate with colleagues, therapists and families to achieve optimal pupil outcomes.
• Support social, emotional and personal development while promoting wellbeing.
• Contribute to school life including pastoral support and EHCP reviews.

About the Role

As an SEN Teacher, you’ll create an engaging, inclusive classroom where every pupil feels safe, valued and motivated to learn. You’ll plan and deliver creative, individualised lessons, and work alongside teaching assistants, therapists, families and the wider school team to support pupils’ academic progress as well as their social and emotional development. You’ll also have the opportunity to take on Form Tutor responsibilities, guiding a small team around your pupils to ensure they receive the personalised support they need to succeed.

What you’ll bring

• QTS/QTLS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• A genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential.
• The ability to build strong relationships with pupils, families and colleagues and work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
• Resilience, adaptability and calm confidence, with strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
• Experience in SEN, SEMH or specialist education is desirable, but not essential—your teaching ability and commitment are what matter most.
• Driving licence required.
