Job description

Job Opportunity: SEN Teacher

Employment Type: Long-term to permanent, Monday to Friday (starting immediately).

GSL Education is seeking a qualified SEN Teacher with experience working with young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) behavioral needs. We have a strong reputation for professional and personable service.

The school is located in Wolverhampton, close to the City Centre, accessible by car and public transport. The role is full-time across the whole school, with experience required in Key Stage 1, 2, 3, and 4. The school currently has 20 children and plans to expand in the upcoming academic year.

The ideal candidate is an experienced SEN Teacher with substantial involvement in supporting children facing mental health challenges and challenging behaviors. The position may become permanent for the right candidate.

Responsibilities
  • Create and develop learning plans and timetables for pupils.
  • Plan, design, and deliver an innovative curriculum tailored to pupils' complex needs.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan and prepare for assessments.
  • Support pupils' social, emotional, and behavioral development.
  • Develop criteria for evaluating success with pupils experiencing BESD, enabling curriculum access.
  • Track pupil progress and monitor data to support teaching and learning.
  • Deliver dynamic, creative, and active lessons.
  • Identify resources to ensure high-quality subject delivery.
  • Deliver lessons to children aged 11–18 years.
Requirements
  • Qualified Teachers: Hold or be willing to work towards QTS/QTLS.
  • Tutors: Possess a degree or equivalent and be willing to pursue a teaching qualification.
  • Proven experience in raising attainment, supporting behavioral challenges, and demonstrating high pastoral care.
  • Enthusiastic about alternative education methodologies.
  • Committed to holistic student development.
  • Creative and innovative in classroom and extracurricular activities.
  • Passionate about positively impacting students’ lives.
  • Good understanding of the national curriculum in English, Maths, and Science.
  • Science background and teaching knowledge are essential.
