Job summary

Higford School is seeking an enthusiastic SEN Teacher to join our dedicated team in Shifnal. You will support autistic students with challenging behaviours, adapting learning to individual needs and building strong relationships with pupils, families and professionals.

Qualifications

• QTS or equivalent is required.
• Experience delivering SEND provision is essential.
• Commitment to inclusive education and raising attainment.
• Full UK driving licence is required.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver creative, engaging lessons tailored to individual learning needs.
• Build positive, trusting relationships to help pupils feel safe and ready to learn.
• Create an inclusive classroom where every achievement is celebrated.
• Develop and review personalised learning plans, including IEPs and behaviour strategies.
• Monitor progress and identify next steps.
• Collaborate with Teaching Assistants, therapists, families and external professionals.
• Promote positive behaviour through consistency and high expectations.
• Safeguard the wellbeing of every pupil.

About Us

Options Higford is a specialist school set in 28 acres of beautiful Shropshire countryside. We provide a high quality, holistic education for up to 60 autistic students who also have associated behavioural needs. Class groups have five students in with at least 1:1 staffing. We provide personalised curriculums for each student based on their individual needs and aim to support them to make progress academically, socially, with skills for life, regulating their emotions and accessing the community.

For over 19 years, Options Autism has provided specialist care and education for children, young people, and adults with autism, complex needs, and learning difficulties.
