Job summary

Manor House School in Horsham is looking for a SEN-focused Teaching Assistant to support pupils with additional needs. The role involves 1:1 and small-group work, partnering with teachers to deliver personalised learning and safeguarding, within a permanent, term-time framework. Start: October 2026.

Salary up to £24,000 per annum, depending on experience. The successful candidate will help pupils engage, regulate emotions, and celebrate progress, contributing to a nurturing and inclusive school

Qualifications

  • GCSEs in English and Maths at grade 4/C or equivalent.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Support pupils in class, in small groups and on a 1:1 basis to help them engage, achieve and grow.
  • Work alongside teachers to deliver creative, personalised learning that meets individual needs.
  • Build trusted relationships that help pupils feel safe, valued and confident.
  • Encourage independence, communication, emotional wellbeing and social development.
  • Promote positive behaviour using nurturing and consistent approaches.
  • Support educational visits, enrichment activities and wider school life.
  • Record pupil progress and work closely with teachers, therapists and pastoral colleagues to celebrate successes and overcome challenges.
  • Help create a safe, inclusive environment where every pupil can thrive.

What you will bring

You don't need years of SEN experience, we're looking for the right person.

  • GCSE Grade 4/C (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs.
  • Patience, empathy and resilience, even during challenging moments.
  • Excellent communication skills and a positive, team-focused attitude.
  • The ability to build trusting relationships and inspire confidence.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Driving licence required
