Job summary

Veritas Education is assisting a Blackburn primary school in recruiting a Level 2 SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with SEMH and ASD. The role starts September 2026, paying £14.50 per hour, and will be based on site at a friendly school with a strong SEND team.

You will work closely with the SENCO and class teacher to implement targeted interventions, manage behaviour calmly, and help KS1/KS2 pupils progress and develop positive routines.

Qualifications

• Confident, proactive behaviour management.
• Experience supporting pupils with SEMH and ASD.
• Ability to run focused interventions (e.g., phonics, reading, social skills).
• Proven impact with reductions in incidents and measurable interventions.

Responsibilities

• Support behaviour regulation using calm, consistent strategies.
• Lead small group interventions to boost confidence and progress.
• Adapt tasks to individual needs in KS1/KS2.
• Provide structure and reassurance to promote positive routines.
• Work with the SENCO and class teacher to improve outcomes.
