We are looking for a caring, patient and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant (TA) to join a SEN alternative provision that we work closely with.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and helping them overcome barriers to learning. You will play an important role in creating a safe, supportive and engaging environment where every young person feels valued, understood and able to succeed.

The Role

Working closely with teaching staff, you will provide tailored support to pupils with a range of additional needs, helping them to access learning, develop confidence and build positive relationships.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting pupils with their learning, both individually and in small groups.
  • Helping to deliver engaging, practical and personalised learning activities.
  • Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Supporting emotional regulation, communication and social development.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and promoting independence.
  • Creating a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to meet each pupil’s individual needs.
  • Supporting pupils to develop life skills, resilience and confidence.
About You
  • Patient, empathetic and understanding.
  • Positive, flexible and enthusiastic, with a can-do attitude.
  • Confident in building relationships with children and young people who may have experienced barriers to education.
  • Able to remain calm and consistent when faced with challenging situations.
  • A strong team player who is willing to learn and adapt.
  • Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN, SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs), or in an alternative provision setting would be beneficial. However, the right attitude, compassion and willingness to learn are just as important.
What We Offer
  • A dedicated consultant to support you through the recruitment process and throughout your time at the school.
  • A rewarding role where you can make a genuine difference to young people’s lives.
  • The opportunity to work within a supportive and dedicated team.
  • Varied and fulfilling working environment.
  • The chance to help pupils build confidence, develop new skills and re-engage with education.
  • Consistent weekday hours during term time.

If you are passionate about helping young people reach their potential and believe you have the patience, enthusiasm and commitment to make a difference, we would love to hear from you.
