Job summary

Job description

We're looking for compassionate, dedicated, and resilient individuals to join our specialist school as Teaching Assistants (TAs). If you have experience working in care, you already possess many of the skills needed to help children and young people with a range of additional needs thrive both academically and personally.

This is a rewarding role where no two days are the same. You'll support students with diverse learning, communication, and physical needs, helping them develop independence, confidence, and life skills in a safe and nurturing environment.

Care professionals bring empathy, patience, adaptability, and a person-centred approach that is invaluable in a specialist educational setting. As a Teaching Assistant, you'll work closely with students throughout the school day, supporting both their learning and personal development.

Many students require varying levels of personal care and physical support. Your experience providing dignified, respectful care will help ensure every student feels safe, comfortable, and able to access their education successfully.

Work alongside individual students or small groups, adapting learning activities and providing encouragement to help them achieve their goals.

Support students with personal care needs where required, including assisting with toileting, personal hygiene, feeding, moving and handling, and other daily living activities. All care is delivered with dignity, respect, and a focus on promoting independence.

Support teachers in preparing resources, managing classroom activities, and maintaining a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Help students develop communication skills, emotional regulation, social interaction, resilience, and independence through consistent support and positive relationships.

Develop trusting relationships with students, colleagues, and families to ensure every child receives the support they need to succeed.

A genuine desire to support children and young people with complex and additional needs.

Comfortable providing personal care and physical support to students with a range of needs, understanding the importance of dignity, safeguarding, and promoting independence.

Able to communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and families.

Comfortable working in a specialist school environment where students may present with complex needs and require varying levels of support throughout the day.

Previous experience in care, support work, healthcare, residential settings, or working with individuals with disabilities is highly valued.
