Job description

Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs? We're recruiting SEN Teaching Assistants to join welcoming and supportive specialist schools across Swindon.

Our partner schools support pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism, SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs), ADHD, Dyslexia, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and Speech & Language needs. These schools are committed to providing a nurturing, inclusive environment where every student is encouraged to grow in confidence, develop independence and achieve their individual goals.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you'll work closely with teachers and multidisciplinary teams to provide tailored support both in the classroom and on a 1:1 basis. You'll play a vital role in helping pupils engage with learning, manage their emotions, develop social skills and overcome barriers to education. Every day is different, making this a highly rewarding role for someone who is patient, compassionate and committed to helping young people succeed.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with additional needs.
  • Assisting teachers in delivering engaging, differentiated lessons.
  • Supporting students with Autism, SEMH, ADHD, Dyslexia, MLD, SLD and other learning needs.
  • Promoting positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing and independence.
  • Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils and staff.
  • Encouraging participation, confidence and personal development.
  • Helping to maintain a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment.

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with children, young people or vulnerable adults (preferred but not essential).
  • Is patient, empathetic and resilient.
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Can work effectively as part of a team and use their own initiative.
  • Is passionate about supporting pupils to achieve their full potential.
  • Holds a full UK driving licence and has access to a vehicle, as some school locations are not easily accessible by public transport.

In return, you'll join supportive, forward-thinking schools that invest in both their pupils and staff. You'll receive ongoing support from Prospero Teaching, access to professional development opportunities and the chance to build a rewarding career within specialist education.

If you're looking for a role where you can make a meaningful difference every day, we'd love to hear from you
