SEN Support Worker
Location: Poole
Salary: £13.68 £16.12 per hour (Depending on Experience)

Are you a compassionate and motivated individual with a passion for supporting young people with special educational needs?

GSL Education are working in partnership with a specialist school in Poole that caters to students with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), complex communication needs, and learning difficulties. We are seeking a full-time SEN Support Worker to provide dedicated assistance and care to pupils, enabling them to access learning, develop essential life skills, and achieve their personal goals.

About the Role:

As a SEN Support Worker, you will work closely with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to ensure pupils receive personalised and consistent care. You will be instrumental in creating a safe, calm, and engaging learning environment that promotes independence and emotional well-being.

Responsibilities of SEN Support Worker:

• Provide one-to-one and group support for students with a variety of special educational needs
• Assist in delivering personalised learning programmes in line with students' EHCPs
• Foster positive relationships to support communication, social interaction, and behaviour management
• Support students in overcoming emotional, social, and academic challenges
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff to adapt materials and approaches to individual needs
• Promote independence and participation in daily routines and school life
• Assist with personal care tasks when required, always maintaining dignity and respect
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and incidents where appropriate

SEN Support Worker Requirements:

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEN, particularly autism, communication needs, and complex behaviours
• CACHE Level 2/3 or equivalent qualifications in Childcare, Support Work, or Education are desirable
• Calm, resilient, and empathetic with a student-centred approach
• Understanding of EHCPs, visual schedules, and positive behaviour support
• Commitment to safeguarding and child protection
