GSL Education requires a nurturing and dedicated SEN Support Worker in Poole for a full-time, permanent position, starting immediately. This is an opportunity to work in a well-regarded special needs provision that supports students with complex learning needs, autism, and associated communication or behavioural challenges.

About the Role:

As a SEN Support Worker, you will provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with diverse needs, working closely with teaching staff, therapists, and families. You will help maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive environment that promotes independence, emotional regulation, and personal development.

Your Responsibilities are to:

  • Provide tailored support to pupils with special educational needs, including autism spectrum condition (ASC), speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
  • Assist students with classroom tasks, communication, and sensory or emotional regulation strategies.
  • Support students with personal care, if required, and ensure their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Promote engagement through patience, encouragement, and creative intervention techniques.
  • Collaborate with teaching and therapy staff to deliver individual education plans (IEPs) and behavioural strategies.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to the class teacher and SENCo.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN, particularly those with ASC, SEMH, or complex learning needs.
  • A nurturing, patient, and proactive approach to supporting learners with additional needs.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviour calmly and effectively.
  • A relevant qualification in childcare, education, or health and social care is advantageous but not essential.
  • Availability for full-time, permanent work and a genuine passion for SEN education.

  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from the last two years.
  • Have an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service or be willing to apply for a new one through GSL Education.
  • Competitive hourly rate of £13.68 - £16.12, depending on experience.
  • Work in a supportive and well-resourced school environment.
  • Flexible full-time and part-time opportunities to suit your availability.
