Location: Poole
Salary: £13.68 £16.12 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate or September 2025

GSL Education are proud to support a specialist provision in Poole, currently seeking a dedicated and passionate Education Support Worker to join their team on a permanent, full-time basis. As an Education Support Worker, you will work closely with teaching staff to deliver tailored support to students across various key stages. You will play an essential role in helping students manage their behaviour, develop communication skills, and access their learning in a structured and nurturing environment.

Education Support Worker Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with additional needs
  • Assist in implementing personalised learning programmes and EHCP targets
  • Help maintain a calm and structured learning environment, using positive behaviour strategies
  • Support students in developing social, emotional, and communication skills
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and therapists to adapt resources and learning approaches
  • Promote independence and confidence through consistent encouragement and care
  • Support students with personal care tasks when necessary, in a respectful and supportive manner

Requirements for Education Support Worker:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND, particularly autism and complex needs
  • CACHE Level 2/3 or equivalent qualifications in Childcare, Education, or Support Work is desirable
  • A calm, resilient, and empathetic nature
  • Familiarity with Makaton, PECS, visual timetables, or other supportive strategies is advantageous
  • Willingness to undertake personal care duties if required
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding procedures and child welfare
