Job summary

Remedy Recruitment Group is seeking a compassionate SEN Support Worker to provide personalised one-to-one support to children and young people with additional learning needs. You will help develop confidence, independence and practical life skills within a supportive environment.

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level (2:1 or above) in a relevant subject such as Education, Psychology, Childhood Studies, Health & Social Care or related field.
  • Experience working with children or young people, particularly those with SEN, Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia or other additional needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patient, compassionate and able to build positive relationships with children and young people.
  • Able to adapt support to meet individual needs and different communication and learning styles.
  • Confident supporting individuals who may display challenging behaviour.
  • Organised and able to maintain accurate records of progress and activities.
  • Genuine interest in helping children develop confidence, independence and practical life skills.

Responsibilities

  • Providing one-to-one support tailored to the individual's needs and abilities.
  • Supporting children with their learning, communication and development.
  • Helping individuals develop essential life skills and independence.
  • Supporting engagement with educational activities and core subjects where appropriate.
  • Building confidence through positive encouragement and personalised activities.
  • Supporting children who may experience challenging behaviour, using calm, consistent strategies.
  • Using visual communication tools and other personalised resources as required.
  • Supporting outdoor and practical activities, including learning through nature and the local environment.
  • Monitoring and recording progress towards agreed outcomes.
  • Working closely with families, teachers and other professionals to provide consistent support.
  • Providing regular feedback and progress updates.
