Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking a Sensory Support Assistant for a specialist SEN secondary school in Central Manchester. You will support pupils with complex needs, providing 1:1 and small-group assistance and helping them stay safe, engaged and able to access learning.

Ideal candidates will have experience with autism, ADHD and sensory processing needs, and possess a patient, resilient and compassionate approach to respond to diverse behaviours within a school setting.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEN and related needs.
• Ability to adapt approaches for different pupils in a school setting.
• Patient, observant, resilient and compassionate approach.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with sensory and additional needs.
• Help pupils recognise and manage sensory triggers and stay engaged in learning.
• Support pupils to regulate emotions and build trust with staff.
• Assist with classroom activities, transitions and routines.
• Collaborate with teachers and the SEN team to respond to individual needs.
• Encourage pupil independence, confidence and communication skills.
