Job summary

Engage Education is seeking an SEN Learning Support Assistant to work across Trafford & Manchester. You will provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional needs, helping access the curriculum and participate in lessons.

The role involves collaboration with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral staff, supporting autism, ADHD and SEMH pupils, promoting confidence, resilience and positive behaviour. This is a full-time, long-term position with competitive daily pay.

Qualifications

  • Experience with SEN/SEND pupils.
  • Experience in school, specialist provision, PRU, care or youth work setting.
  • Patience and nurturing approach.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to remain resilient with challenging behaviour.
  • Genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers to learning.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional needs.
  • Support pupils to access the curriculum and participate fully in lessons.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral staff to provide personalised support.
  • Support pupils with autism, ADHD, SEMH, communication needs and learning difficulties.
  • Help pupils develop confidence, independence and social skills.
  • Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
  • Assist with differentiated learning activities and interventions.
  • Implement strategies in EHCPs and individual support plans.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Encourage engagement and help pupils achieve individual goals.
