Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking an experienced Secondary SEN Teacher to join specialist SEN schools near Cannock on a long-term basis. You will deliver engaging, differentiated lessons to students with diverse needs in a nurturing setting, working closely with Teaching Assistants and therapists to support individual EHCP targets.

The ideal candidate will hold QTS/QTLS or equivalent, have SEND experience in a specialist environment, and demonstrate strong classroom management and safeguarding

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or equivalent (essential).
• Experience teaching SEND in a specialist provision or similar.
• Strong understanding of Autism, ADHD and other SEND.
• Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding and welfare of children.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, differentiated lessons to secondary students with SEND.
• Create a positive, structured learning environment supporting academic progress and personal development.
• Adapt teaching to meet EHCP targets and learning needs.
• Collaborate with Teaching Assistants, SENCOs, therapists and professionals for holistic support.
• Assess and monitor progress; implement interventions as required.
• Support social, emotional and behavioural development and promote independence.

The Role:

• Deliver engaging and differentiated lessons to secondary-aged students with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), SEMH and Communication & Interaction Needs.
• Create a positive, structured, and inclusive learning environment that supports both academic progress and personal development.
• Adapt teaching strategies and resources to meet individual EHCP targets and learning needs.
• Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, SENCOs, therapists, and other professionals to provide a holistic approach to student support.
• Assess, monitor and record student progress, implementing interventions where required.
• Support students with social, emotional and behavioural development, promoting independence and confidence.
• Contribute to annual reviews, progress reports, and multi-agency meetings where appropriate.
• Maintain high expectations of behaviour, engagement, and achievement.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), QTLS, or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification (essential)
• Have previous experience teaching children or young people with SEND, ideally within a specialist SEN school or alternative provision.
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of Autism, ADHD, SEMh and other additional learning needs.
• Be patient, resilient and adaptable, with a genuine passion for inclusive education.
• Have excellent classroom management and communication skills.
• Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
• Hold an enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).

To Be Eligible for Any Job with Prospero Teaching, You Must:

• Hold Right to Work in the UK.
• Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service, or be willing to process a new application.
• Provide two professional child-related references covering at least the last two years.
