Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking experienced Secondary SEN Teachers to join specialist SEN schools on a long‑term basis. You will deliver engaging, differentiated lessons to secondary students with a range of needs and work closely with TAs, SENCOs and therapists to support holistic development.

Applicants should hold QTS or QTLS, have SEND experience, and be committed to safeguarding. A DBS via Update Service is preferred. Right to Work in the UK is required and references will be requested.

Qualifications

  • Experience teaching children with SEND in a specialist setting.
  • Strong understanding of SEN needs including ASC, ADHD, SEMH.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare.
  • Willingness to undergo enhanced DBS via Update Service.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, differentiated lessons to secondary students with SEND.
  • Create an inclusive, structured learning environment that supports progress.
  • Adapt teaching to EHCP targets and learning needs.
  • Collaborate with TAs, SENCOs, therapists and professionals for holistic support.
  • Assess and monitor progress; implement interventions as required.
  • Support social, emotional, and behavioural development and independence.
  • Contribute to annual reviews, progress reports and multi‑agency meetings.
  • Maintain high expectations of behaviour, engagement and achievement.

Are you a passionate and dedicated SEN Teacher looking to make a real difference in the lives of young people? Prospero Teaching is seeking experienced and enthusiastic Secondary SEN Teachers to join specialist SEN schools on a long-term basis.

The Role:
  • Deliver engaging and differentiated lessons to secondary-aged students with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), SEMH and Communication & Interaction Needs.
  • Create a positive, structured, and inclusive learning environment that supports both academic progress and personal development.
  • Adapt teaching strategies and resources to meet individual EHCP targets and learning needs.
  • Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, SENCOs, therapists, and other professionals to provide a holistic approach to student support.
  • Assess, monitor and record student progress, implementing interventions where required.
  • Support students with social, emotional and behavioural development, promoting independence and confidence.
  • Contribute to annual reviews, progress reports, and multi-agency meetings where appropriate.
  • Maintain high expectations of behaviour, engagement, and achievement.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), QTLS, or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification (essential)
  • Have previous experience teaching children or young people with SEND, ideally within a specialist SEN school or alternative provision.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of Autism, ADHD, SEMH and other additional learning needs.
  • Be patient, resilient and adaptable, with a genuine passion for inclusive education.
  • Have excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Hold an enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
To Be Eligible for Any Job with Prospero Teaching, You Must:
  • Hold Right to Work in the UK.
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service, or be willing to process a new application.
  • Provide two professional child-related references covering at least the last two years.
