Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking experienced and enthusiastic Secondary SEN Teachers to join specialist SEN schools on a long-term basis. The role involves delivering engaging, differentiated lessons to secondary students with Autism, ADHD, and other needs, while supporting their academic progress and personal development.

Ideal candidates hold QTS/QTLS or an equivalent qualification, have SEND experience in specialist settings, and are committed to safeguarding with an enhanced DBS Update Service

Qualifications

• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), QTLS, or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification (essential)
• Have previous experience teaching children or young people with SEND, ideally within a specialist SEN school or alternative provision.
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of Autism, ADHD, SEMH and other additional learning needs.
• Be patient, resilient and adaptable, with a genuine passion for inclusive education.
• Have excellent classroom management and communication skills.
• Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
• Hold an enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging and differentiated lessons to secondary-aged students with a range of additional needs.
• Create a positive, structured, and inclusive learning environment that supports academic progress and personal development.
• Adapt teaching strategies and resources to meet individual EHCP targets and learning needs.
• Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, SENCOs, therapists, and other professionals to provide a holistic approach to student support.
• Assess, monitor and record student progress, implementing interventions where required.
• Support students with social, emotional and behavioural development, promoting independence and confidence.
• Contribute to annual reviews, progress reports, and multi-agency meetings where appropriate.
• Maintain high expectations of behaviour, engagement, and achievement.
