Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking an experienced Secondary SEN Teacher to join specialist SEN schools near Tamworth on a long-term basis. You will deliver engaging, differentiated lessons to students with various SEND needs and contribute to their EHCP targets.

You will work with Teaching Assistants, SENCOs and therapists to support holistic development, safeguarding, and ongoing progress; a valid DBS update service is preferred and Right to Work in the UK is required.

Qualifications

  • Experience teaching children with SEND in SEN schools or alternative provision.
  • Strong understanding of Autism, ADHD, SEMH and other needs.
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare.
  • Hold an enhanced DBS with Update Service or willing to apply.
  • Right to Work in the UK.
  • Provide two professional child-related references in last two years.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain high expectations of behaviour, engagement and achievement.

Are you a passionate and dedicated SEN Teacher looking to make a real difference in the lives of young people? Prospero Teaching is seeking experienced and enthusiastic Secondary SEN Teachers to join specialist SEN schools on a long-term basis near to Tamworth.

The Role:
  • Deliver engaging and differentiated lessons to secondary-aged students with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), SEMH and Communication & Interaction Needs.
  • Create a positive, structured, and inclusive learning environment that supports both academic progress and personal development.
  • Adapt teaching strategies and resources to meet individual EHCP targets and learning needs.
  • Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, SENCOs, therapists, and other professionals to provide a holistic approach to student support.
  • Assess, monitor and record student progress, implementing interventions where required.
  • Support students with social, emotional and behavioural development, promoting independence and confidence.
  • Contribute to annual reviews, progress reports, and multi-agency meetings where appropriate.
  • Maintain high expectations of behaviour, engagement, and achievement.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), QTLS, or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification (essential)
  • Have previous experience teaching children or young people with SEND, ideally within a specialist SEN school or alternative provision.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of Autism, ADHD, SEMh and other additional learning needs.
  • Be patient, resilient and adaptable, with a genuine passion for inclusive education.
  • Have excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Hold an enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
  • To Be Eligible for Any Job with Prospero Teaching, You Must:
  • Hold Right to Work in the UK.
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service, or be willing to process a new application.
  • Provide two professional child-related references covering at least the last two years.
