Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking experienced and enthusiastic Secondary SEN Teachers to join specialist SEN schools on a long-term basis near Cannock. You will deliver engaging, differentiated lessons to secondary students with a range of additional needs across Autism, ADHD, MLD, SLD, SEMH and communication needs.

You will adapt teaching strategies to EHCP targets, work with a multidisciplinary team, and contribute to progress reviews and reports, while promoting inclusive, supportive learning

Qualifications

• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching children or young people with SEND in specialist settings is preferred.
• Strong understanding of Autism, ADHD, SEMH and other additional needs.
• Patience, resilience, and adaptability with a passion for inclusive education.
• Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
• DBS check updated with the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.

The Role:

• Deliver engaging and differentiated lessons to secondary-aged students with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), SEMH and Communication & Interaction Needs.


• Create a positive, structured, and inclusive learning environment that supports both academic progress and personal development.


• Adapt teaching strategies and resources to meet individual EHCP targets and learning needs.


• Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, SENCOs, therapists, and other professionals to provide a holistic approach to student support.


• Assess, monitor and record student progress, implementing interventions where required.


• Support students with social, emotional and behavioural development, promoting independence and confidence.


• Contribute to annual reviews, progress reports, and multi-agency meetings where appropriate.


• Maintain high expectations of behaviour, engagement, and achievement.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), QTLS, or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification (essential)


• Have previous experience teaching children or young people with SEND, ideally within a specialist SEN school or alternative provision.


• Demonstrate a strong understanding of Autism, ADHD, SEMh and other additional learning needs.


• Be patient, resilient and adaptable, with a genuine passion for inclusive education.


• Have excellent classroom management and communication skills.


• Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.


• Hold an enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).

To Be Eligible for Any Job with Prospero Teaching, You Must:

• Hold Right to Work in the UK.


• Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service, or be willing to process a new application.


• Provide two professional child-related references covering at least the last two years.
