Job Description:

Hays Education are supporting a local Special Needs school in recruiting a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to start working with them as soon as possible. This role is to cover a vacancy and will continue till the end of the summer term and possibly beyond. The successful temporary candidate would be encouraged to apply for the permanent role.

  • The school is located in east Birmingham, not far from the city centre, and describes themselves as a focused and dedicated school with young people at the centre of their ethos.
  • Caters for children at KS2 and KS3 level with social, emotional and mental health challenges (SEMH).
  • The role entails supporting primary aged pupils in class who have SEMH and some other additional needs.
  • The school will support training for candidates who may not have prior experience working in these settings.
  • The successful candidate will have experience working with children with challenging behaviour and SEMH.
  • You should be able to demonstrate competencies in working with children with SEMH and de-escalation techniques.
  • Hays Education can obtain recent satisfactory references reflecting this experience.
  • The school offers Team Teach training for all new staff members and looks forward to welcoming a new addition to the team.
