Job summary

Teach Now Limited is seeking a Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant for a primary school in Havering, London. You will support pupils with SEN to access lessons, build friendships and develop independence throughout the day.

You will work closely with teachers, adapting activities, reinforcing literacy and numeracy, and providing individual or small-group support. The role is full-time and permanent with a daily rate of £95–£101 depending on experience.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting primary-aged children with SEN.
• Understanding safeguarding and child welfare.
• Willingness to complete enhanced DBS and other safer recruitment checks.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Clear spoken and written communication with children, families and colleagues.
• Ability to support primary learning, including basic literacy and numeracy.

Responsibilities

• Help children access classroom activities and participate in school life.
• Adapt tasks under the teachers guidance to meet individual learning needs.
• Provide individual and small-group support while encouraging independence.
• Share observations with teachers to inform planning and monitor progress.
• Promote positive behaviour through calm communication and consistent routines.
• Follow safeguarding procedures and maintain appropriate records.
