Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a dedicated Pastoral Support Officer to work in a SEN school in Wellingborough. You will support students' emotional wellbeing, behaviour, attendance and engagement, building trust and resilience.

The role involves one-to-one mentoring, group interventions, safeguarding, and close collaboration with teachers and the pastoral team. Previous SEN/SEMH experience is advantageous; strong communication is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people in schools or similar settings.
• Understanding of social, emotional and mental health needs.
• Ability to manage challenging behaviour with empathy and professionalism.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with safeguarding focus.

Responsibilities

• Provide pastoral and emotional support to students across key stages 3 and 4.
• Support SEMH needs and challenging behaviours with positive coping strategies.
• Build trusting relationships and mentor individuals or small groups.
• Assist with attendance, engagement and safeguarding as part of the pastoral team.
• Liaise with teachers, SENCOs and parents to support wellbeing and progress.
• Maintain accurate records of pastoral interventions and student progress.
