Job summary

Engage Education is recruiting an experienced SEN Outreach Support Worker to help young people with SEMH needs across Oldham and surrounding areas. The role involves meeting pupils outside traditional settings and rebuilding confidence and engagement with education.

You will work one-to-one, in community venues, supporting pupils who are absent or disengaged and helping them develop positive relationships with learning.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people with SEN and/or SEMH.
• Ability to support challenging behaviour or complex needs.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Calm, patient and resilient approach.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one support to young people with SEN and SEMH needs.
• Meet pupils within community and other agreed settings.
• Support pupils who are currently absent or disengaged from education.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
• Encourage re-engagement with education and learning.
• Support emotional regulation, behaviour and personal development.
• Deliver individualised support and interventions.
• Help pupils overcome barriers to education.
• Work closely with the wider education and support team.
• Provide regular feedback on pupil engagement and progress.
• Follow safeguarding procedures and maintain professional boundaries.
