Job summary

Aspire People have partnered with a specialist SEN school in Leicester to recruit a caring SEN Nursery Teaching Assistant for their early years team.

You will provide hands-on support to young children with a range of additional needs, helping them feel safe, settled and ready to learn through 1:1 and small-group activities.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young children with SEN.
• Experience in nursery/early years settings is preferred.
• Patient, caring and nurturing approach.
• Understands play-based learning and early development.

Responsibilities

• Support young children on a 1:1 and small-group basis.
• Help children develop communication and social skills.
• Support early learning through play-based activities.
• Encourage independence and personal development.
• Support emotional regulation and wellbeing.

Aspire People have partnered with a specialist SEN school in Leicester who are looking for a caring, enthusiastic and experienced SEN Nursery Teaching Assistant to join their early years team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who loves working with young children with additional needs and wants to help them develop their communication, confidence, independence and early learning skills.

About the Role

Working within an SEN nursery setting, you will provide hands‑on support to young children with a range of additional needs, helping them feel safe, settled and ready to learn.

• Supporting young children on a 1:1 and small‑group basis
• Helping children develop their communication and social skills
• Supporting early learning through play‑based activities
• Encouraging independence and personal development
• Supporting children’s emotional regulation and wellbeing
• Helping children with sensory needs and individual routines
• Creating a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment
• Supporting children with transitions and changes in routine
• Building positive and trusting relationships with children
• Working closely with teachers, SEN staff and other professionals
• Following individual support and learning plans

The Ideal Candidate

• Has previous experience working with young children with SEN
• Ideally has experience within a nursery, early years or specialist SEN setting
• Is patient, caring and nurturing
• Understands the importance of play‑based learning and early development
• Is confident supporting children with communication and sensory needs
• Can build strong relationships with young childrenn>
• Is calm, adaptable and resilient
• Works well as part of a wider team
• Is committed to working Monday-Friday, term time only
