Job summary

Study Mind is seeking a patient SEN Maths Tutor to provide 1:1 tuition for a Year 10 student with EHCP, Autism, severe Dyslexia and ADHD. Sessions are face-to-face at the family home in Chatham, Medway (ME5), 3-4 hours per week, ASAP start.

Lessons will focus on Functional Maths or KS3/KS4 pathways, using visual prompts, multisensory methods and small-step tasks to build confidence and independence at a comfortable pace.

Qualifications

• Can confidently teach Functional Maths and KS3/KS4 Maths
• Has experience supporting Autism, Dyslexia and/or ADHD
• Understands how severe Dyslexia can affect mathematical learning
• Can use visual, practical and multi-sensory teaching approaches
• Is patient and willing to explain concepts in different ways
• Understands sensory, attention and working-memory difficulties
• Can build rapport with a young person returning to structured education

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 SEN Maths tuition for a Year 10 student with EHCP and neurodivergent needs
• Assess the student’s starting point and gradually establish a current level
• Develop Functional Maths or KS3/KS4 pathways tailored to ability
• Use visual prompts, multisensory teaching and clear, stepwise instructions
• Create calm, structured sessions with regular breaks and repetition
• Build rapport and support a positive attitude toward learning
