Job summary

Fairhouse Primary School in Basildon is seeking a Learning Support Assistant / SEN Support Assistant for immediate start on a fixed-term contract until 31 August 2027. The role is 30 hours per week, term-time plus inset days, with a 39-week year. Salary ranges from £19,185 to £19,784 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.

Qualifications

• Can think creatively to engage, enthuse and motivate children to learn.
• Empathetic and able to understand complex special needs and support pupils accordingly.
• Confident working with pupils with challenging needs, including social and emotional behaviours.
• Has a good understanding of the primary curriculum and skills to help pupils attain.
• Able to support pupils 1:1 and in small groups.
• Has understanding of different special educational needs including autism.
• Works well as part of a team and commits to developing practice.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with complex needs, including intimate care.
• Work with individuals and small groups to raise attainment.

• Collaborate with teachers and support staff to plan and deliver appropriate activities.
