Job summary

Ribbons & Reeves is seeking a Specialist Learning Support Assistant for a Southwark primary school to provide dedicated one-to-one support to a child with cerebral palsy and apraxia of speech. This is a full-time position starting December.

You will work alongside the class teacher and therapists, following individualized strategies to support learning, communication and social interaction, with a calm, patient approach and a commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with SEN
• Ability to work with children with physical disabilities or communication difficulties
• Calm, patient and encouraging approach
• Follow individualised support plans and safeguarding policies
• Communicate effectively with teachers, therapists and colleagues

Responsibilities

• Provide consistent one-to-one support during lessons and activities
• Help the child engage with age-appropriate learning opportunities
• Support communication and interaction throughout the school day
• Encourage independence and confidence in the child
• Follow guidance from therapists and teaching staff
• Support classroom routines and transitions
• Help the child participate with peers
• Monitor progress and share observations with the team
