Job summary

Engage Education are recruiting SEN Learning Support Assistants to support children with Special Educational Needs across Manchester. The role involves 1:1 and small-group support, helping pupils access the curriculum and participate in lessons, and collaborating with teachers and SEN professionals to deliver personalised support.

We welcome caring, resilient individuals with a passion for helping young people with SEND, with experience in schools, care or youth work.

Qualifications

• Experience with SEN/SEND in education settings.
• Experience in school, care or youth work settings.
• Patient, calm and nurturing approach.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to remain resilient with challenging behaviour.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional needs.
• Support pupils to access the curriculum and participate in lessons.
• Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral staff to provide personalised support.
• Support pupils with autism, ADHD, SEMH, and learning disabilities.
• Help pupils develop confidence, independence and social skills.
• Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
• Assist with differentiated learning activities and interventions.
• Implement strategies from EHCPs and individual plans.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
• Encourage engagement and help pupils achieve their goals.
