Job summary

Vision for Education Ltd is seeking a dedicated SEN Learning Support Assistant to join a supportive team in Newcastle upon Tyne. The role is full-time with an hourly rate of £14.24 PAYE and an immediate start for a long-term assignment.

The post requires assisting pupils with SEMH needs, collaborating with teachers, SENCOs and external professionals, and delivering 1:1 and small-group support to help learners access the curriculum and develop social-emotional skills.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs is preferred.
• Able to work with teaching staff and external professionals.
• Willingness to contribute to behaviour support plans and interventions.

Responsibilities

• Support students with SEMH needs in and out of the classroom to access the curriculum and develop social and emotional skills.
• Work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs and external professionals to deliver tailored interventions and behaviour support plans.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with students, helping to boost confidence, self-esteem and emotional regulation.
• Provide 1:1 and small group support as required.
• Promote a calm and nurturing environment, using de-escalation and behaviour management strategies effectively.
