Job summary

TeacherActive is recruiting a SEND Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist school in Witham, Essex. This role involves 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEND, helping them access lessons in a safe and inclusive environment.

The ideal candidate will work closely with teachers and SEND professionals, follow EHCPs, support communication and emotional regulation, and assist with personal care when required.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with SEND.
• Ability to follow EHCPs and risk assessments.
• Calm, patient and proactive in challenging situations.
• Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with needs.
• Assist pupils during lessons and with classroom activities.
• Adapt tasks and resources to individual abilities.
• Support pupils with communication difficulties and non-verbal methods.
• Support development of social, emotional and communication skills.
• Follow safeguarding, health and safety and SEND procedures.
