Job summary

Long Term Futures is recruiting a Learning Support Assistant for a specialist SEN school in Barnet, North London. This full-time position involves providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEN, helping them access learning and develop confidence in a structured setting.

Applicants with experience in education or transferable skills from care backgrounds are encouraged. An Enhanced DBS Update Service is preferred, with a commitment to safeguarding and consistent routines.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting pupils in educational settings, SEN experience preferred.
• Enhanced DBS check on Update Service or willingness to complete a new check.
• Patient, adaptable approach to supporting pupils with additional needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualised 1:1 support to pupils with SEN to access learning.
• Assist with small-group sessions to encourage participation and engagement.
• Support teachers with classroom activities, lesson prep and adapted learning tasks.
• Help pupils develop independence, confidence and positive learning habits.
• Follow safeguarding policies and report concerns to appropriate channels.
• Observe pupil progress and share feedback with teachers.
