Job summary

Supply Desk is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to support autistic children in a Watford school. The role is full-time, temp to perm, with a September 2026 start and a daily rate of £90–£120.

You will work closely with teachers to deliver engaging activities, support progress through individual plans, and assist with IEPs, risk assessments, personal care and therapy programmes. A DBS check is required and drivers preferred.

Qualifications

  • Experience with autistic children or a strong desire to develop in this area.
  • Understanding of SEN and commitment to learning and professional growth.
  • Willing to commit to full-time, fixed days and maintain DBS clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with teachers to create and deliver engaging learning activities.
  • Supporting students through personalised action plans and strategies to aid progress.
  • Assisting with IEPs, Risk Assessments, Personal Care, and Therapy programmes.
  • Working with teachers, families and external agencies to provide tailored support.
  • Building positive relationships and responding to individual needs.

Location: Watford, Hertfordshire

Hours: Full-time, temp to perm

Start Date: September 2026

Salary: From £90 to £120 per day

We are working with a highly rated school in Watford that prides itself on creating a caring and supportive environment. The school is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to support autistic children and help them succeed both academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborating with teachers to create and deliver engaging learning activities
  • Supporting students through personalised action plans and strategies to aid progress
  • Assisting with Individual Education Plans (IEPs), Risk Assessments, Personal Care, and Therapy programmes
  • Working closely with teachers, support staff, families, and external agencies to provide tailored support
  • Building positive, therapeutic relationships with students and responding to their individual needs
We’d love to hear from you if you:
  • Have experience working with autistic children, or a strong desire to develop in this area
  • Understand SEN and are committed to learning and professional growth
  • Can commit to full-time, fixed days
  • Hold a relevant qualification such as NVQ in Childcare and Education, or Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools
  • May have experience in residential care, school support roles, or personal experience with ASC
  • Are willing to complete training such as Team Teach, TEACCH, or positive handling
  • Have experience supporting independence and social-emotional development in young people
  • Hold a clear and valid DBS, or are willing to obtain one
  • Driving license preferred
