Job description

SEN Learning Support Assistant (LSA) – Harlow

£94–£110 per day | Day-to-Day, Bank & Permanent Opportunities

Are you passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? Do you have the patience, empathy and dedication to help every child reach their full potential?

We are looking for enthusiastic and caring SEN Learning Support Assistants to join a variety of welcoming schools across Harlow. Whether you're looking for the flexibility of day-to-day supply, regular bank work, or a long-term or permanent role, we'd love to hear from you.

About the Role

As an SEN Learning Support Assistant, you'll play a key role in helping pupils access education, build confidence and achieve meaningful progress. You'll work closely with class teachers, SENCOs and other professionals to provide tailored support that meets each child's individual needs.

Many of the pupils you support will have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), so you'll be helping to deliver personalised strategies and interventions to ensure they thrive both academically and socially.

Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEN.
  • Support children with a range of additional needs including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, moderate and severe learning difficulties, and physical disabilities.
  • Implement strategies and targets outlined in pupils' EHCPs.
  • Adapt learning activities to suit individual abilities and learning styles.
  • Encourage communication, independence, confidence and positive social interactions.
  • Promote positive behaviour using consistent and supportive behaviour management techniques.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, therapists and parents to support pupil development.
  • Assist with personal care where required (depending on the role).
What We're Looking For
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN, either in schools or other care/support settings.
  • An understanding of EHCPs and the importance of delivering individualised support.
  • A patient, resilient and compassionate approach.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
  • Relevant qualifications are desirable but not essential—experience and a positive attitude are equally valued.
What We Offer
  • Competitive daily pay of £94–£110, depending on experience and assignment.
  • Flexible day-to-day supply work to suit your schedule.
  • Regular bank opportunities with local schools.
  • Long-term and permanent positions available.
  • Opportunities to gain experience across a range of primary, secondary and specialist SEN settings.
  • Ongoing training and professional development.
  • Dedicated support from an experienced education recruitment consultant.
  • The opportunity to make a lasting difference in the lives of children with additional needs.

If you're passionate about inclusive education and want to support children in reaching their full potential, we'd love to hear from you.
