Zusammenfassung

Educato Limited is seeking an experienced SEN Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist SEN provision in Swinton. You will support children with a range of needs, including autism and non-verbal pupils, providing 1:1 and small-group help, and using communication aids to promote learning and regulation.

You will work closely with teaching staff, implementing EHCP targets and ensuring a calm, positive environment throughout the school day. DBS checks and safeguarding compliance are required.

Qualifikationen

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN.

Jobbeschreibung

We are looking for an experienced SEN Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist SEN provision in Swinton.

The role will involve supporting children with a range of additional needs, including autism and complex learning needs. Many of the pupils are non-verbal and require consistent, individualised support throughout the school day.

You will work closely with teaching staff to support pupils with their learning, communication, regulation and day-to-day development. The successful candidate will be confident using different communication strategies and able to build positive relationships with children who may require a high level of support.

The Role
  • Supporting pupils with a range of SEN, including autism and complex needs
  • Working with children who may be non-verbal
  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support where required
  • Supporting communication through visual aids, PECS and other communication strategies
  • Helping pupils regulate their emotions and manage sensory needs
  • Supporting learning and engagement across the school day
  • Following individual support plans and EHCP targets
  • Working closely with teachers and other support staff
  • Creating a calm, safe and supportive environment for pupils

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN
  • Experience supporting children with autism and/or non-verbal communication
  • A patient, calm and consistent approach
  • Good understanding of sensory needs and emotional regulation
  • Confidence working as part of a wider school team
  • The ability to build strong relationships with pupils
  • A proactive and positive attitude
  • A genuine interest in supporting children to develop their independence and reach their potential
