Job Description:
Description

Make a Difference. Be the Fresh Start in Sunbury-On-Thames.

  • Do you have experience working with students with SEND or SEMH needs?
  • Are you able to deliver education in creative and engaging ways?
  • Are you looking for a rewarding role working 1:1 with young people who need your help?
At Fresh Start in Education, we’re looking for proactive, person-centred people to design and deliver personalised learning sessions that spark curiosity, confidence, and a sense of hope for young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) or Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Whether it’s going on a trip to the shops to explore Maths, unlocking their imagination through stories and art, or using gaming to uncover the wonders of Science, you’ll inspire students to rediscover the joy of learning in a way that works for them.

If you have the experience, empathy, and commitment to transform lives and are looking for a flexible role that allows you to deliver learning in ways that you feel best meet the student’s needs and interests, we would love to hear from you.
The placements
  • Working with your student on a 1:1 or 2:1 basis in their home or a suitable venue in and around the Sunbury-On-Thames area.
  • Planning, delivering, or supporting 2-5 sessions per week. Each session is between 3-5 hours, during school hours and term-times only.
  • Placements organised and supported by our dedicated teams.
  • Bank Staff worker – providing short-term provisions as and when they arise, paid via PAYE.
What you need to apply
  • Minimum of 2 years’ professional experience working with vulnerable children or young people with additional needs (SEN, SEMH needs, and other barriers to learning).
  • Experience delivering or supporting numeracy, literacy, and communication skills in creative, practical, and engaging ways.
  • Consistent availability to commit to a minimum of 2 sessions per week (a minimum of 2 working days).
  • A commitment to keeping children and young people safe and a practical and up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding.
The benefits
  • Competitive hourly rate of £25 to £35 per hour.
  • Subsidised travel costs and £15 per day for resources.
  • Free wellbeing and counselling service, pension option & store discounts.
  • Work for a nationally recognised provider of specialist academic, social, and emotional support for vulnerable young children and adults.
We are the go-to provider of alternative education in the UK. As an independent company with over a decade of experience supporting some of the most vulnerable children, young people, and young adults throughout the UK, we facilitate life-changing work in our students’ lives, their families, and surrounding communities.

The dedication and compassion of our staff continue to make a lasting difference in the lives of those we serve, helping to shape brighter futures for generations to come. But we can’t do it without you. To find out more about how you can make a difference in the lives of our students, call 020 3409 6410. We would love to speak with you.

Due to the nature of the work and our commitment to safeguarding our students, you will be required to undergo thorough background checks including ID, Right to Work, employment checks, and an enhanced DBS.
