Position: Secondary SEN Learning Support Assistant
Location: Lambeth, London
Pay Rate: 110 - 120 per day (depending on experience)
Contract Type: Full-time, Immediate Start

About the Role: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Learning Support Assistant to join our Secondary School in Lambeth, supporting students with severe autism in Key Stage 3. This is an exciting opportunity for a committed individual to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people with complex needs, ensuring they have the support and resources required to thrive in their educational journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored, one-to-one and small group support to students with severe autism in Key Stage 3.

  • Assist in creating and delivering learning activities that meet the individual needs of each student.

  • Implement behaviour management strategies to support students in managing their emotions and engaging with learning.

  • Support students with daily routines and personal care when required, ensuring their safety and wellbeing.

  • Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and external agencies to develop and deliver effective, personalised learning plans.

  • Maintain accurate records of students' progress and behaviour, contributing to regular reviews.

  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes students' social, emotional, and academic development.

About You:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with severe autism is essential.

  • A strong understanding of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and its impact on learning and development.

  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach, with the ability to manage complex behaviour.

  • Excellent communication skills, able to engage effectively with students, staff, and families.

  • A proactive and flexible approach to supporting students in all aspects of school life.

  • A team player who is willing to work collaboratively with others in a supportive environment.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with secondary-aged students, preferably within a SEN setting, is highly desirable.

  • A passion for supporting students with severe autism and a commitment to providing an inclusive education.

  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply for one).

  • Training in autism support strategies (e.g., TEACCH, PECS) is advantageous but not essential.
