Position Available: SEN Classroom Assistant

Location: Westbury

Start Date: September 24

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of students with special educational needs? We are seeking a caring and dedicated SEN Classroom Assistant to join our team at a welcoming school in Westbury starting September 24.

Role and Responsibilities:

* Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with special educational needs, including those with learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, and other challenges.
* Assist classroom teachers in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and accommodations to support students' academic, social, and emotional development.
* Support students in accessing the curriculum, participating in classroom activities, and developing essential skills, such as literacy, numeracy, communication, and self-regulation.
* Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere where all students feel valued, respected, and supported in their learning journey.
* Collaborate with classroom teachers, SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Coordinators), and other support staff to monitor student progress, evaluate interventions, and adjust strategies as needed.
* Communicate effectively with parents/carers, providing regular updates on student progress and collaborating on strategies to support learning and development at home.

Requirements:

* Relevant experience working with students with special educational needs is preferred but not required. Training and support will be provided.
* Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, parents/carers, and external professionals.
* Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to make a positive difference in the lives of students with special educational needs.
* Flexibility and adaptability to work collaboratively in a dynamic and inclusive classroom environment.
* Commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion in education.
* Willingness to undergo relevant training and professional development as required.
