Job summary

Polaris Education in Burnley is seeking a SEN Class Teacher to join our Burnley School. You will plan and deliver high-quality lessons within the national curriculum, supporting pupils with SEMH needs and working closely with the class team.

We require QTS, a degree, EYFS experience, SEMH experience, strong behaviour management, and a commitment to professional development. This is a full-time, term-time role (37.5 hours) with a salary £28,000–£39,520. DBS check required; start September 2026.

Qualifications

• Hold qualified teacher status (QTS).
• Have a strong basic education to degree level.
• Previous teaching experience, preferably in EYFS.
• Some previous experience of working with pupils with SEMH within an Educational setting.
• Experience of behaviour management and techniques.
• Committed to professional development and willing to learn.
• Must be willing to undergo an Enhanced DBS check prior to commencing work.

Responsibilities

• Planning and delivering high-quality lessons within the national curriculum while meeting SEMH needs.
• Supporting the class team in facilitating learning opportunities and promoting positive behaviours.
• Reporting on pupils' progress and liaising with staff to ensure needs are met.
• Supervision of pupils during non-classroom time including trips.
• Building positive relationships with pupils and driving positive learning outcomes.
