Job summary

Polaris Education - Scunthorpe School is seeking a SEN Class Teacher to deliver high-quality lessons within the National Curriculum for pupils aged 5 to 18 with complex SEMH needs in Scunthorpe.

The role is full-time, 37.5 hours per week, term-time only, with a projected April 2027 opening date. The position offers a company pension, life assurance and an employee discount scheme, supporting professional development and wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Strong educational background to degree level.
• Experience of working with pupils with SEMH in an educational setting.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver high-quality lessons within the National Curriculum while meeting SEMH needs.
• Support the class team in facilitating learning and promoting positive behaviours.
• Report on pupils' progress and liaise with staff to meet needs.
• Supervise pupils during non-classroom time, including trips and activities.
• Build positive relationships with pupils to encourage learning outcomes.

Role Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver high-quality lessons within the National Curriculum while meeting the complex SEMH needs of all pupils
• Support the class team in facilitating learning opportunities and promoting positive behaviours
• Report on pupils' progress and concerns, liaising with other school staff to ensure pupils' needs are met
• Supervise pupils during non-classroom time, including extra-curricular activities and school trips
• Build positive relationships with pupils, encouraging interaction and positive learning outcomes

Requirements

• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Have a strong educational background to degree level
• Have previous successful teaching experience
• Have previous experience of working with pupils with SEMH within an educational setting
• Have experience of using effective behaviour management techniques
• Be committed to professional development and willing to learn
